You have a survey in Word. SurveyMonkey does not accept Word file uploads directly. There are three ways to get your questions in: manual copy-paste, SurveyMonkey's built-in AI importer, or Pirai AI. Here is how each works and which one to use.

Method 1: Manual Copy-Paste
Open SurveyMonkey, create a new survey, and add each question one by one. Works for any source but takes hours for anything over 10 questions.
When to use it: Fewer than 10 questions and no external tools. For anything larger, Method 2 or 3 is faster.
Method 2: SurveyMonkey Paste Your Content (Native AI Importer)
SurveyMonkey has a built-in AI importer powered by OpenAI. Go to Create Survey, select Paste Your Content, and paste your survey text. SurveyMonkey's AI detects question types and builds the survey automatically. It supports Multiple Choice, Checkbox, Single Textbox, Comment Box, Matrix/Rating Scale, and Text question types.
Important limits to know
Paste Your Content is limited to 50 uses per month. It does not capture text formatting, page breaks, branching logic, or images. It is not available on HIPAA-enabled accounts or accounts with Enhanced Sensitive Data Protection. For Word or PDF files, you must open the file, select all, copy, and paste the text manually into the field.
Method 3: Pirai AI : Any File Type
Pirai AI converts your Word document (or PDF, Excel, CSV) into a formatted .txt file structured for SurveyMonkey's Paste Your Content importer. Copy all content from the .txt file, paste it into SurveyMonkey, and click Add Questions. The AI importer detects all question types automatically.
